ALT, Augustus Theodore Henry - Governor Phillip's Staff.

BARRISFORD, John  - 1753-1821 Hobart. Pte, Royal Marines. Occ: Breeches maker. Wife Hannah accompanies him on the voyage. The family originally settled on Norfolk Island but went to Tasmania in 1808, where they settled at Glenorchy. Children: Joseph b1789, and Mary b1790.

DARGIN, Peter - b1759 Ireland. Pte, Royal Marines. Cohabited with Mary Warren, who arrived on Lady Juliana in 1790, as a convict. Daughter Mary A Dargin b1793 Sydney. Settled at Hunters Hill then went to Norfolk Island.

DAVEY, Thomas - 1st Lieut., Royal Marines. 1759 Devonshire - 1823 London. Parents: John and Temperance Wynes. Cohabited with Elizabeth Smith. Child: Harriott Smith b 1793.

DAVIS, John - Pte, Royal Marines. Accompanies by his wife Martha. Child Jane born and died on ship. Children born in Sydney: Mary 1791 and Thomas 1798.

HARMSWORTH, Thomas - Pte, Royal Marines. Accompanies by his wife Alice and children John and Ann.

HAYNES, Maria - 1770-1844. Came free as wife of William Nash, who she married in 1789 at Port Jackson.  Cohabited with Robert Guy on Norfolk Island.

HOSBORN/HOSBURN, Robert - Seaman.  Cohabited with Caroline Haycock who also arrived on the Prince of Wales.

HUME, John - Sgt, Royal Marines.  Accompanied by his wife Sarah. John and Sarah returned to England.

JORGANIS/JORGANESS, Jorgan - died on the voyage - fell overboard.  Seaman -

MANNING, James - b1765 Staffordshire. Pte, Royal Marines. Married Isabella Ramsay in 1792 at Parramatta.

MASON, John - Ship's Master. Died at sea of scurvy.

MOORE, Samuel - Seaman. Cohabited with Mary Harrison who also arrived on the Prince of Wales (Originally boarded on the Lady Penrhyn).

NASH, William - Pte, Royal Marines. Married Maria Hayes in 1789 at Port Jackson. Came free on the Prince of Wales as William's wife.

NELSON, George - Ship's.  Cook. Drowned in Sydney Harbour in 1788.

PARFETT, John - Drummer, Royal Marines - Accompanied by wife Sarah and son James.

PORTER, James - Ship's Boy.

RICHARDS, Lawrence - b1759 Tiverton, Devon. Pte, Royal Marines, accompanied by wife Mary and son Samuel. Son Laurence born 1801, Sydney.

RYAN, Robert - 1757c Ireland. Pte, Royal Marines. Cohabited with Frances Williams on Norfolk Island. Frances arrived as a convict on the Prince of Wales. Child Sarah b1798.

SCOTT, James died 1796 Portsmouth. Sgt, Royal Marines. Accompanied by his wife Jane Boxell, who he married in Portsea in 1786 and daughter Elizabeth. Family left the colony on the Gorgon. Child Wiliam B born 1790 Sydney.

TIMINS, Thomas - b Devon d1828 Hampshire. 1st Lieut. Royal Marines. Returned to Engand.

TOLEN, Michael - Pte, Royal Marines. 1789 lost in the bush, at Rosehill.

WRIGHT, Henry - 1758-1837 Sydney. Pte, Royal Marines, accompanied by his wife Mary. Married Ann in 1786 in Hampshire. Cohabited with Mary Daly. Child: Ann 1812.
Cohabited with Mary Swain.

WRIGHT, Matthew - Pte, Royal Marines, accompanied by his wife Mary and daughter Mary Ann. Family returned to England.

CONVICTS

ALLEN, Susannah - died 1789. Occ: Hoopmaker. Convicted at the Old Bailey in 1787 of theft. Cohabited with John Brown who arrived on the Scarborough as a private in the Royal Marines. Died giving birth to daughter, Rebekah. Rebekah died in 1790.

AULT, Sarah - Convicted at the Old Bailey in 1787 of theft. Married Edward Flyn in 1789 at Port Jackson. Edward arrived on the Friendship as a convict. Sarah returned to England.

BALDWIN/BOWER/BOWYER, Ruth - 1761-1788 Sydney Cove.

BARBER, Elizabeth - 1757 London. Occ: Bookstitcher. Convicted. in 1782 at the Old Bailey of theft of watch and money.  Originally embarked on the Friendship but transferred to Prince of Wales at the Cape of Good Hope. Elizabeth, was brutalised by Marines before she departed England and was in leg irons on two occasions, whilst on the Friendship. Married Thomas Brown in 1788 in Sydney. Thomas arrived as a convict on the Scarborough. Child, Thomas, born 1788 Sydney. ??..Settled at Parramatta with Thomas.

BINGHAM/MOORING/BIGGINS, Elizabeth - (aka Margaret). Convicted at Westminster in 1787 for theft of clothing.

BLANCHETT, Susannah - 1761 Surrey - 1788 Sydney. Convicted in 1787 at Kingston Upon Thames for theft. 

BONNER, Jane - 1765-1787 at sea.  Convicted of theft of a silk cloak, in 1787 at the Old Bailey.

BOULTON, Rebecca - 1760 Lincoln - 1788 Sydney. Convicted in Lincoln in 1784.Accompanied on the voyage by daughter Rebecca who died in 1788.

DALY (nee Warburton) , Ann - born Cheshire died 1798 at Parramatta. Married Gore Daly in England. Convicted at Nether, Knutsford in 1786 for theft of two gowns. Married John Seymour in 1792 at Parramatta.  John arrived as a convict on the Scarborough.

DARNELL/DARLING/DOWLING, Margaret - 1767-1834 Hawkesbury. Buried at Sackville Methodist Cemetery.  Convicted at the Old Bailey in 1787 of theft of knives and forks from a shop.   Cohabited with Charles Green, a Pte, Royal Marines who arrived on the Friendship. Child Charles G Darling b1789.  Charles Snr tried to gain custody of the child but it was ordered the child stay with his mother until he was older. Married Owen Cavanough in 1791 on Norfolk Island. Owen arrived as a seaman on the Sirius. 

DIXON, Mary -  Convicted at the Old Bailey in 1786 of theft (2 counts) from a dwelling place. Went to Norfolk Island.

DUNDAS, Jane - 1758-1805 Sydney. Convicted at the Old Bailey in 1787 of theft of tablecloth and napkins.

ELLAM, Deborah - 1767-1819 Parramatta. Convicted at Chester in 1784 of theft of clothing. Married John Herbert 1788 at Sydney Cove. John arrived as a convict on the Charlotte.  Child John born 1797.

FARMER, Ann - 1725-1790 Norfolk Island. Convicted at Middlesex in 1786 of petty larceny.

FIELD, JANE- 1730-1788 Sydney Cove. Convicted at London in 1785 of theft of three bottles of alcohol.

FLARTY, Phoebe - 1772-1817 Botany Bay. Convicted at the Old Bailey in 1787 of stealing three shawls. Cohabited with William Welsh, who arrived with the Third Fleet. When William was convicted of  highway robbery he was in the company of Phoebe, who he met again on Norfolk Island. Son Richard Flarty b1808. Married Richard Podmore in 1810 in Sydney. Podmore chidren: Ann 1789, Sarah 1803, Elizabeth 1813, George 1815.

FORBES, Ann

GREEN, Mary - Convicted in 1787 at the Old Bailey of theft of a teapot, cups and saucers. Cohabited with John Harris on Norfolk Island. John was a convict on the Scarborough. Daughter Susannah born 1797. John, Mary and their son returned to England.

GROVES, Mary

HARRISON, Mary - Convicted in Lincoln in 1784 of theft.  Cohabited with Samuel Moore. Cohabited with John Long. Child: Johanna Long b1791. Returned to England with John.

HERBERT, JANE - 1746-1788  Sydney. Convicted of theft of a twenty pound promissory note, at the Old Bailey in 1786.

HOLLIGAN, Elizabeth - Convicted in the Old Bailey in 1787 for theft of 6 pair of stockings. Cohabited with William Saltmarsh - a convict on the Alexander.  Child Ann born 1799.

HUGHES, Frances Ann - 1755-1839 Tasmania. Convicted of felony in Lancaster in 1787. Cohabited with Samuel Hussey on Norfolk Island. Samuel arrived as a convict on the Friendship.  Married George Patterson in 1810 in Tasmania.

JOHNSON, Catherine - 1770-1838 Wilberforce. Convicted in 1787 at the Old Bailey of theft of 15 yards calico. Cohabited with Tristam Moore.

JOHNSON/HUGHES, Mary - Convicted of theft of 9 pairs of stockings in 1786 at the Old Bailey. Cohabited with James Meredith, who arrived on Friendship as Captain, Royal Marines.  Cohabited with John Piper. 

KENNEDY, Martha - Convicted in 1787 at Kingston Upon Thames of assault and robbery.  Married Richard Middleton, 1788 at Port Jackson. Richard arrived as a convict on the Scarborough. Children: James 1790, Nathaniel 1791, James 1804?.  Married William Blackmore in 1799 in Sydney. William was a Private with NSW Corps and arrived on the Surprise.  Married William Day in 1811 in Sydney.

LARA, Flora - Convicted in Westminster in 1787 of stealing a tea chest and money. Married John Hart in 1788, St Phillips Sydney. John arrived as a convict on the Scarborough.

LAYCOCK/HAYCOCK/HAYLOCK, Carolina - 1764-1830 Sydney. Convicted at Middlesex in 1785 of petty larceny.  Cohabited with Robert Hosborn, who arrived on Prince of Wales as a seaman. Child Sarah H Hosborn b1788. Cohabited with Robert Bruce, a convict on the Charlotte. Children: George Haylock b1791 and Sarah Haylock 1802. Cohabited with Mark Turner. Children: Mark Turner b1793, William b1794 and Thomas b1799. Cohabited with William Shepherd. Cohabited with William Smyth. Daughter Ann S Laycock b1803. Married Henry Heatley in 1810 at Windsor.

MARRIOTT, Jane - Died 1793 at Parramatta. Convicted in 1787 at the Old Bailey of stealing a cloak.

MASON, Susannah - 1737-1825 Sydney. Convicted at Westminster in 1786 of stealing a child's clothing and silk ribbon.  Married John Archer in 1788 in Sydney. John arrived as a convict on the Scarborough. Married under alias of John Forrester and Susannah Gibbs.

MATHER, Ann - Convicted at the Old Bailey in 1787 of stealing a pair of breeches and two waistcoats.  Cohabited with Thomas Abbott, who was born on Norfolk Island.

MATHER, Mary - Convicted in London in 1787. Cohabited on Norfolk Island with John Keeling, who arrived on the Scarborough as a convict.

MITCHCRAFT/BEACHCROFT, Mary - Convicted at Kingston upon Thames in 1787 of assault and robbery.

MUNRO, Lydia - 1770-1856 Hobart, Tasmania. Convicted in 1787 at Kingston Upon Thames of stealing 10 yards of printed cotton.  Married Andrew Goodwin in 1790 at Port Jackson. Andrew arrived on the Scarborough as a convict. Children: Margaret in 1800, Lucy in 1802 and Maria 1802 (all Goodwin).

NOWLAND, Mary - Died 1793 at Parramatta. Convicted at the Old Bailey in 1787 of theft of two shirts and a napkin.

PARSLEY, Ann - Convicted in 1787 at the Old Bailey of stealing three shawls. Cohabited with James Furzer, a 1st Lieut. who arrived on the Sirius. Son James P F Parsley born 1791. Returned to England.

PHILLIPS, Mary - Convicted Somerset - break, enter and theft.  Departed on Charlotte, transferred to Friendship and then to Prince of Wales. Settled in Tasmania. see 'Charlotte'.

PINDER, Mary - 1740 Lincoln - 1817 Hobart, Tasmania. Convicted in 1787 at Lough, Lincolnshire of felony. Cohabited with Richard Brown on Norfolk Island. Richard arrived on the Alexander as a convict.

PIPKIN, Elizabeth - 1765-1801 Sydney. Convicted at Westminster in 1787 of stealing a watch from a dwelling.

REDCHESTER, Ellen (Eleanor) - 1764-1840 Concord. Buried St Lukes, Liverpool. Convicted in 1787 at Manchester of theft. Married William Fraser/Frazer, 1783 in York, England. William was sent to Australia as a convict on the Charlotte. Son Daniel born 1791. Cohabited with William Morgan who arrived on the Neptune as a member of NSW Corps. Child Ann Morgan b1797. Cohabited with Thomas Humphries.

ROLT, Mary - Convicted in London in 1786. Cohabited on Norfolk Island with Samuel King. Samuel arrived as a member of the Royal Marines on HMS Sirius.

SMITH, Ann - Died 1799 at Parramatta. Convicted at the Old Bailey in 1787 of stealing 15 yards of calico. Married Simon Taylor in 1794 at Parramatta. She was murdered by her husband. Ann is buried at St John's Parramatta.

SMITH, Catherine - Convicted in 1787 at the Old Bailey of stealing a watch, from a gardener at Chelsea. Married in 1789 at Sydney Cove to George Clare, a convict who arrived on the Friendship. Cohabited with Thomas Rickerby.

SPENCER, Mary - b1768 Lancashire. Convicted at Manchester in 1786 of stealing clothing. Cohabited with James Squire, who arrived as a convict on the Charlotte. Married John Palmer in 1797 in Sydney. John arrived with the Second Fleet as a Corporal.

TAYLOR, Sarah - Convicted at Kingston Upon Thames, in 178,7 for assault and robbery. Married William French Brown in 1788 at Sydney Cove.  William arrived as a convict on the Alexander.

THOMAS, Elizabeth - 1766 Lancashire - 1835 Tasmania. Convicted in 1787 at Preston for theft of a gown. Married William Connelly in 1788 in Sydney. William arrived as a convict on the Alexander.  Cohabited with Thomas Hill. Married James Waterson in 1812 in Hobart, Tasmania.

WAINWRIGHT, Ellen - 1769 Lancashire - 1839 Tasmania. Convicted at Preston in 1787 of theft of a woollen coat, petticoat and black silk hat. Cohabited with James Wilson, who arrived on HMS Sirius as a seaman. Married Thomas Guy in 1812 in Tasmania. Children: Mary A in 1789, Frances in 1805 (both Wainwright).

WILLIAMS, Frances - Convicted in Flintshire, Wales in 1783 of stealing divers goods and chattels.  Cohabited with Robert Ryan on Norfolk Island. Robert arrived on the Prince of Wales as a Pte in the Royal Marines. Children: Sarah 1789 and James 1806 (both Williams).

WILSON, Mary - 1740-1816 Sydney. Convicted at the Old Bailey in 1787 for theft of clothing.  Married John Owles in 1789 at Port Jackson. John arrived as a convict on the Alexander. Married James Sheers who arrived as a convict on the Scarborough.

YOUNGSON, Elizabeth - 1772 Lancaster - 1854 Sydney. Convicted at Lancaster in 1787 of breaking into a warehouse and stealing money. Married Abraham Lee in 1798 in Sydney. Abraham arrived on the Surprise as a convict.  Cohabited with Patrick Mitchell. Children: Ann Youngson b1808.

YOUNGSON, George - Convicted of break, enter and steal at Lancaster in 1787. Brother to Elizabeth who arrived on the same ship.
